Thesis is a well known wordpress premium theme that allow you to customize your blog design in your own style. It has 2 basic files, custom.css and custom-function.php. CSS file is used to design your blog theme and PHP file is used to add different features like Navigation Bar, Author Bio, Footer etc… For a new blogger it is very difficult to edit both files and if things go wrong the whole design can suffer and even crash can accrue.
To overcome this issue KingdomGeek has developed a very cool plugin called “Thesis Open Hook“. This plugin has different boxes where you can add PHP code to a functionality. However still you will need to edit your Custom.css file to design your blog. The designing and aligning part can be done from Custom.css file and the reset can be done through Open Hook Plugin.
How to Use Thesis Open Hook Plugin?
1. Download Open Hook Plugin, install and activate.
2. Go to Dashboard>Appearance>Thesis Open Hook
3. You can paste the code in the box where you exactly want to apply the code. For example just look at to the top banner on WPPluginsBlog.net. I achieved this by adding the code in Thesis Open Hook WP Head section. Which is equivalent to wp_head.
- WP Head
- Before HTML
- After HTML
- Before Header
- After Header
- Before Title
- After Title
- and So on…..
If you are going to add any HTML code, then simply add it. However if you are going to add PHP code then make sure to tick the button which says “Execute PHP on this hook“. other wise the PHP code will not work. The plugin will help you in designing different areas of your blog. Simply paste the php code in the box and click on “Little Save Button” and then go to Custom.css file that is located under Thesis>Custom File Editor and paste the designing part of the code.
